Paul Vang, author of Sweeter Than Candy, grew up around dogs and pheasants on a farm in southern Minnesota. After graduating from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minnesota, he had a 33-year career as a manager with the Social Security Administration. After leaving government service he launched a second career as a freelance writer and columnist.
In addition to weekly newspaper columns, his work has been published in many magazines, including Montana Outdoors, North Dakota Outdoors, Kiwanis, Wheelin’ Sportsmen, Blue Ridge, and Distinctly Montana. He has won awards from the Outdoor Writers Association of America and Montana Newspaper Association. He’s a past president of the Northwest Outdoor Writers Association.
Paul and his wife, Kay, and black Lab, Flicka, live in Butte, Montana—that is when he’s not out hunting or flyfishing.
Illustrations are by the author’s son, Kevin Vang. In his day job he’s a professor of mathematics at Minot State University, Minot, North Dakota.
